Due to the rising cases of COVID-19 and increasing pressure over the Centre to postpone the CBSE Board exams the Education Ministry today announced that the exams for class 10th will be cancelled and those for class 12th will be postponed after consultation with PM Modi.
The ministry will assess the situation on June 1st to decide on fresh dates.
The exams for class 10th that was to be held from May 4th to June 14th , 2021 are hereby cancelled . The results of class 10th will be prepared on the basis of an objective criterion to be developed by the Board . Students who won't be satisfied with the marks allocated to him / her will be allowed to sit for the exams when situation improves.
The exams for class 12th that were to be held from May 4th to June 14th ,2021 are hereby postponed . These exams will be held on a different date after reviewing situation on 1st June 2021 .
In view of the increasing corona infection across the country, several senior political, social and film personalities including Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, Congress leaders Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi had demanded suspension of board examinations.
The Prime Minister stated that the welfare of students will be considered as the top priority of the Government. He also said that the Union Government will take into account the best interests of the students and ensure that their health is taken care of and their educational interests are not harmed. In view of the epidemic and the current state of school closure, and keeping in view the safety and welfare of students, decisions have been taken.
