Why is called Independence Day

Independence Day in India occurs on August 15 of every year. It celebrates the date in 1947 when the Indian Independence Act came into effect, which established India and Pakistan as separate countries, no longer under British imperialist rule. (In Pakistan, Independence Day is celebrated on August 14th.)

Who is the guest of 77 Independence Day

Ahead of the 77th Independence Day, the Narendra Modi government has extended a formal invitation to 1,800 special guests which include village heads, construction workers, Khadi workers and primary teachers among others to participate in the celebrations.
