University Grants Commission National Eligibility Test (UGC NET) and NTA UGC NET is a national-level examination operated in order to decide the eligibility of aspirants for only Assistant Professor or both Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Assistant Professor posts in Indian university and college. The UGC NET 2023 examination will be held for a total of eighty three subjects. Until 2021, the NTA UGC NET examination was operated for 81 subjects. What is NET?

UGC NET Eligibility

UGC NET Reservation Policy
The reservation policy of the Government of India is applicable to the UGC NET exam. As per the reservation policy, in Central Universities and Institutions Deemed to be Universities, 10% seats are reserved for the General-Economically Weaker Section (GEN-EWS) category, 15% seats are reserved for the category.7.5% for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) category and 27% for Other Backward Classes belonging to Non Creamy Layer” (OBC-NCL). There is 4% reservation horizontally in each category for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as defined in the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 (RPwD Act, 2016).

UGC NET 2023 exam pattern of Paper 1 and Paper 2. As per the prescribed UGC NET exam pattern, both the papers consist of multiple choice questions. Candidates will have to complete both the papers in a single duration of three hours. +2 marks are allotted for each correct response, and there will be no negative marking for wrong answers. UGC NET Syllabus

- Two papers: Teaching Aptitude, Research Aptitude, Data Interpretation and Reasoning etc. are included in Paper 1. Similarly, Paper 2 consists of the subjects selected by the candidates while filling the application form. Paper 2 consists of a total of 83 subjects.
- Paper 1 prepared of 50 questions for 100 marks, while Paper 2 prepared of 100 questions for 200 marks. The time of the exam is of 3 hours. Correct answers will carry +2 marks, and there will be no negative marking.
UGC NET Selection Process
UGC NET 2023 selection process is one of the simplest processes of any examination. As per the rules or norms of the Commission, only 6% of the applicants will be short listed out of the total number of aspirants who appear in both the papers. - With the release of application form, the selection process for UGC NET exam starts. By visiting the official website of the exam, applicants need to register and complete the application form online. Candidates have to submit an application fee to fill the form.
- After successful registration, about a week before the UGC NET exam, NTA issues the admit card. Applicants can access their registered account portal to download their admit cards. On the day of the exam, candidates have to bring it to the exam venues.
- Six percent of the applicants who appear in both papers must qualify (in all slots or to be eligible for the position of assistant professor), and only one percent of those applicants will qualify the JRF exam overall.
- For "Eligibility for JRF and Assistant Professor" and for consideration for the posts of "Assistant Professor", a candidate must have given both the exams and secured at least 40% in aggregate for General (Unreserved) category and 40% in aggregate for all candidates Must have obtained at least 35% marks. National Testing Agency (NTA) will soon release UGC NET 2023 admit card for December 2022 cycle on its official website. It is to be noted that the UGC NET admit card must be carried to the designated exam venue. It is possible that candidates will not be allowed to take the exam if they do not have the hall ticket on the day of the exam.
