Sanjeev Kumar Yadav: The daring Delhi Police officer who made history
Sanjeev Kumar Yadav has served as the DCP of the Delhi Police’s Special Cell and needs no introduction. He is one of the ablest Delhi Police officers with the highest conviction rate in cases related to terror. In his career, he has worked on many cases including the ones related to the 2005 and 2008 Delhi Blasts. Apart from these, he has also worked on cases of attack on Jama Masjid and Israel diplomats in 2010 and 2012 respectively.
Investigating terror-related cases is not an easy job because collecting evidence in such cases is very difficult. But for officers like Sanjeev Yadav, it's an easy job. Mr. Yadav is also known for having broken the backbone of the Indian Mujahideen terror group when it was trying to spread its operations in the country's capital.
Despite having received several threats to his lifetime and again he performed his duties with full dedication and no fear. Because of his devotion to work he holds the record of having received the highest number of gallantry awards in the country, about 9 of them.
Maxwell Pereira: The Delhi Police officer did commendable work in handling the 1984 anti-Sikh riots
Maxwell Pereira had the most distinguished career in his 35 years of Delhi police service. He had joined the forces as an IPS officer in 1970 and ended up receiving the President's Police Medal for Distinguished Services in 1995. Pereira is known to have handled the violent 1984 anti-Sikh riots in a “brilliant” manner. During his career, he was never influenced by any political leader or political party. This is the major reason why he was able to solve the infamous Tandoor case related to Sushil Sharma, a Congress MLA.
Neeraj Kumar: The Delhi Police officer who conversed with Dawood Ibrahim
Neeraj Kumar had the most interesting job career right from his day of induction. He had Joined the Delhi Police force as an IPS officer in 1976 and also served as a Delhi Police Commissioner later on. Kumar served in the Central Bureau of Investigation where he had the opportunity to work on famous cases like Bombay Blasts of 1993, under which he got to converse with the international underworld don Dawood Ibrahim.
During his career, he busted many gangs like the Lapka gang, etc but the most challenging and disturbing case that he ever handled was that of the NIRBHAYA rape case.
Apart from fulfilling the duties assigned to him as a police officer, he went on to form schemes like the “Jan Sampark Scheme” where senior officers would meet people of their area so that better police-to-people connections could be established.

Kiran Bedi: Female IPS officer who made history
Talking about lady police officers, this is the first name that everyone in this country remembers. And why should they not? After all, she was the first woman to join the Indian Police Service as an IPS officer in 1972. She served for 35 years before opting for voluntary retirement. She has worked on many important cases during her career but the one that led lasting footprints proved to be when she was posted to the Delhi Prisons as Inspector General. During this time she brought many reforms in Tihar jail which received worldwide acclaim and even won her the Ramon Magsaysay Award in 1994.
She has a long list of achievements attached to her name. In 2003, Kiran Bedi became the first Indian woman to be appointed as a Police Advisor to the Secretary-General of the United Nations. After taking retirement, she wrote several books and today serves as the current Lieutenant Governor of Puducherry.
Vimla Mehra: The officer who did some amazing work
Thinking about the position of Special Commissioner Police for the first time being held by a lady in Delhi Police reminds you of Vimla Mehra. After Kiran Bedi, she is best known for serving as the second female director-general of Delhi’s Tihar Prison. While being in this position she worked towards the welfare of women prisoners by providing them with an opportunity to learn foreign languages. She also introduced a women's helpline number to help prevent crime against women.
