This identifier, known as the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registration (APAAR) ID, will be integrated into the school IDs of students across the nation.
The initiative is in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 and the vision of a "Digital India" as envisioned by the Hon'ble Prime Minister.
What is the APAAR ID?
The APAAR ID is a unique 12-digit number introduced to streamline and centralize the academic and extracurricular records of students.
This digital identity will serve as a secure platform to store students' achievements, exam results, learning outcomes, and participation in activities like olympiads, sports, and skill development programs.
By consolidating academic and non-academic data, the APAAR ID will ensure greater transparency, accountability, and efficiency in managing student records.
The primary goal of introducing the APAAR ID system is to provide students with a lifelong, unified record that can be accessed easily for various academic and professional purposes.
It will enable seamless tracking of a student’s academic journey and extracurricular involvement, offering a comprehensive view of their progress.
Implementation Process of APAAR ID
The implementation of the APAAR ID system will follow a structured process to ensure smooth integration into schools. The steps are outlined below:
Step 1: Conduct Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs)
To introduce the APAAR ID system, schools are advised to organize Parent-Teacher Meetings (PTMs). These meetings will serve as an opportunity to explain the significance and benefits of the APAAR ID to both parents and students. The aim is to make sure that everyone understands the purpose and advantages of the new system.
Step 2: Consent Form Distribution and Collection
Schools are required to distribute physical consent forms to parents, requesting their approval for using Aadhaar details to generate the APAAR ID. Parents must sign and submit the forms, giving their consent for the integration of their child's Aadhaar number into the system.
Step 3: Student Data Verification
Once consent is obtained, school authorities must verify the accuracy of student details (such as name, date of birth, and Aadhaar number) through the UDISE+ portal. This step ensures that the information used for generating the APAAR ID is correct and up-to-date.
Step 4: APAAR ID Generation
After verification, schools will generate the APAAR IDs using the UDISE+ portal. These IDs will be securely linked to students’ Digilocker accounts, which can be accessed for storing and retrieving academic and personal records. Upon successful generation of the ID, a confirmation SMS will be sent to the parents.
Step 5: Distribution and Integration
Once the APAAR IDs are generated, schools will provide the IDs to both students and parents. These IDs will be included in the school ID cards and integrated into the school's IT systems, allowing easy access and tracking.
Step 6: Addressing Errors
In case of any discrepancies in student data or the APAAR ID, schools will guide parents to Common Service Centers (CSCs) for necessary corrections. This ensures that any errors are resolved promptly and the records are updated accurately.
